Positions in the Recording Arts Arena

March 20, 2015

With today’s technological advances, recording arts provides a variety of positions for career opportunities. Most people associate recording arts with the music industry, but it also includes working in sound for film, music and television. The sound technology is used to enhance the visual storytelling in these mediums.

There are a variety of career paths available if you decide to pursue a career in the recording arts. Attending a college or university to seek a well-rounded picture of the opportunities available is a good idea. There are many colleges out there that offer degree programs specializing in this area.

In lower level classes, you may gain hands on experience by learning to play the keyboard. You will probably also take a course or two that focuses on the basics of music theory. You will learn how music has made an impact on our world over the course of the years.

Many of the higher level courses give more technical knowledge. You can study the science of how sound behaves. You also might learn about the art of reproduction and modification. The techniques you learn can be applied to careers in the movie and television production industry. They can also be used if you desire to pursue a career in the music recording arena.

You have several different career choices when you obtain a recording arts degree. A music producer is one of the most common that comes to mind. But keep in mind that you are just restricted to the music industry. There are many technical jobs that are required in film and television production.

You will find the need for Post Production Engineers in the music industry, but they can also be involved in the technology used to combine the sounds found in a television program or motion picture. This type of position requires and understanding of the various technologies used, but also leaves way for creativity.

Once you’ve spent years mastering your craft, you might aspire to become a Master Engineer. In this position, you would be responsible for taking the final mix provided by the Mix Engineer and analyze it for consistency throughout the entire album, or the production. Although there is equipment available that claims to accomplish this task, they can never replace the experienced ear of a real live Master Engineer.

No matter what your aspirations are in the recording arts industry, it will require at minimum some technical training. As with most careers, you will get your start in an entry level position. With perseverance, hard work, and determination you can advance through the ranks to someday visualize your dreams

Street Judo – Does Judo Work In Street Fights

March 19, 2015

So, you may be asking yourself if judo is a worthwhile martial art to train for street fights. I can give you some examples on how street judo can save your butt in a fight in the dojo or in the bar or any other type of self defense situation. You must follow these strategies outlined below to decide if this art is practical for the applications of street fighting below:

Street Judo #1 – A very good aspect of street fights that applies to judo is the fact that fights go to the ground often. Which helps alot, especially if you are trained in a martial art like Judo. Being able to throw someone on the ground and having them land on their head is good, and being able to choke them out within 5 seconds is even better in a street fight. Judo may not have the fancy kicks or punches of karate or taekwondo but it when it comes to clinch fighting and submitting someone on the ground only jiujutsu can compare.

Street Judo #2 – Alot of the push and pull and weight distribution of this martial art apply to many street battle situations. If you are able to throw someone off their balance, toss them with your hip so they smash their head into the pavement as their first source of ground contact can win you the fight. I have used judo extensively as a bouncer for the past few years and can honestly say when someone is grabbing or pushing at you having these street judo skills is mandatory to escape the situation with the upper hand.

Street Judo #3 – Training in judo at the local dojo is good because it builds up your fitness and gives you actual skills you can use to fight someone off beginning with your very first white belt. It’s a great art to know and I personally suggest you cross train in other arts like taekwondo or karate to broaden your focus and skills to become a better and more well rounded self defense fighter.

Street Judo #4 – A wonderful tactic that street judo can teach you is: Knowing how to fall properly. I have had many serious falls including mountain bike accidents and even being hit by cars. I was never seriously injured because I was always able to tuck and roll or land properly, like they teach you in street judo. Follow these tips to get the most from your martial arts training!

All students are mandatority required to wear the Jiu Jitsu Gi uniform while training. In simple words, it is must for every ambitious fighter. Care should be taken while selecting Gi. Proper Gi is the one in which you feel comfortable. If one does not feel comfortable inside Jiu Jitsu Gi gear, he would not be able to fight very well and with confidence. There are two types of gears-1.Lightweight, 2.Heavyweight. As compared to the heavyweight gear, lightweight gear is more comfortable to wear in a competition. While making both heavyweight and lightweight types of BJJ kimono, same quality of fabric is used. While choosing the Jiu Jitsu Gi, one has to see the weight of the gear. It is simple to find out whether a Gi is heavyweight in character or not. Double weave Gis are heavyweight in nature and single weave Gis are not. There is only one factor that distinguishes single weave Gi from the double weave Gi and that is the quantity of fabric used in the making. Quantity of fabric used in the making of double weave Gis is more than the one used in the single weave Gis. It is advisable to choose single weave Gi, when you want to participate in a competition.

You should select the brand that offers reasonable price. Before you select the right brand, just take some time to see other brands available in the market. Many people prefer blue or white.
